A new take on Advertising

Hey All,

I stumbled upon this featured on a few Advertising blogs I've come across, called "Composez vos voeux 2011". I like this in particular because its a very different way for a company to advertise itself. It is by a French Company called DDH, Its a simple interface to compose and share your wishes for 2011 with friends and family alike. A nice little tool to play with, kept me entertained for quite a while and succeeded in making me aware of DDH.

The website can be found here: Compose your Wishes 2011

Ads, House and Movement Lifestyle

Wow!

Seeing as I've been away from my blog - exams and such - I've decided I'm going to give you all a triple post, so buckle up - there is a lot i need to show you.

First off! A new Ad!
This is for Audi, entitled "Goodnight Commercial". Here Audi is showing that their new A8 is saying goodnight to old luxury, with a cheeky dig at Mercedes, told in the style of a classic children's story. The voice acting suits it well, very Desperate Housewives-esque, and the stylised directing is very effective in the advert. The creators of this advert are an American company called Venables Bell & Partners.
Check it out!
Secondly a house track from the 90's you have to hear!
I just don't understand how this hasn't had more hits! a serious classic house track that any house lover will really really appreciate!

Finally - if you don't know, you should get to know...
Gigi Torres!
She's been on the scene for a while and has been making good stuff that deserves to be watched and commended. This routine is from her tour in Holland Tour in April 2010, To the remix of Rude Boy by Rihanna and Rick Ross, plenty of energy and a little cheeky, this has got to be seen and recognised!

Movement Lifestyle Month Presents...Lando Wilkins

Hey All,

Today i'm going to introduce you to Lando Wilkins,

Being completely honest, my knowledge of this guy is limited, i've only recently become aware of his choreography, but have seen him performing in many Movement Lifestyle shows and alongside other choreographers in their shows/classes.

This guy does isn't shy, there is a reason why he's involved in the Movement Lifestyle collection of dancers - he is very very good. A few of his routines on YouTube you can see the likes of Lyle Beniga, and the Sh*t Kings performing alongside him, so its fair to say he's a pretty heavy hitter. The songs he tends to perform to range from commercial (O.M.G. - Usher) to alternative-type tracks to do street routine, which I might hasten to add, is a growing trend. For example, the routine I have decided to feature is called "Audacity of Huge" and is by Simian Mobile Disco, but have a look at another one to Colette - About Us, a nice little concept piece that is highlighted by great videography, production and directing.

His style is very different to those I have mentioned before him, where you see Shaun Evarusto hit and isolate a move, in this particular routine, Lando has more flow to his moves and uses a large number of distinct pulses in his routine, which gives an overall more liquid type feel to it.

So here goes!

Movement Lifestyle Month: Keone Madrid!

Hey all,

Today's feature is based on Mr Keone Madrid, another ML great! Considering this guy is only one year my senior, he has phenomenal talent!

The video i'm going to showcase today is called 'No Worries' - Trip Lee, a completely new song to me, I personally have never heard of the artist, and the production values are very different to other songs choreo gets done to. There are a lot of claps and hits that Keone does a great job of catching, especially with them being so frequent and fast. Has a little T.I. type feel on the production of the song, you could imagine T.I. over the track so it has a similar kind of vibe.

Keone's style is somewhat similar to that of Shaun Evarusto, but still very different. There are a lot more grooves in his choreo but you still see him hit every beat then pulse or hit straight off it. From watching a few of his videos, which i encourage you to do, you get a good feel for his style, and he's definitely strong in performance and choreography.

His quote shows a lot about his philosophy towards dance "Hard work beats talent, where talent fails to work hard", not a bad philosophy to stand by if you ask me. Finally, you can catch his other work on his YouTube Channel: k3on3

So, here we go...enjoy :)

Heineken's Perfect Party Entrance

Hey all,

For those of you who don't know,
I have a really keen interest in the advertising industry, I hope that some day soon I will be a part of it.
In the meantime I have come across a really nice little advert made by Heineken - the dutch brewery.

Also concieved by a dutch agency called TBWA/Neboko, its a great little piece that shows off a real creative edge in a sector dominated by repetitive advertisements. It is quite the refreshing change, and a good beer to boot! The music in the advert is 'The Golden Age' - The Asteroids and the ad typifies the entrance everyone would want to make at a party.

So have a look, and let me know what you think!

My Friend Jess

Hi All,

Today i'm going to post about something rather different to my normal stuff.
A friend of mine at university in Leeds has constructed her own blog displaying her Artwork and artists that inspire her.

I would encourage you to have a look because there is some truly amazing stuff. The website can be found here.

To give you a little taster of the kind of thing you should expect to see on her blog, i've posted a video below which is a collaborative animation by Blu and David Ellis, a pair of street artists who have the ability to do amazing and unexpected things with landscapes!

Movement Lifestyle: Introducing...Mr Lyle Beniga

Hey all,

Today i'm going to introduce you to an icon. Lyle Beniga is more than just a dancer, like Shaun Evarusto (mentioned in my previous post) he exudes charisma, it literally flows out of him!

As the first person to really influence my taste in dance (other than my first teacher, who I will introduce to you soon...trust me - worth the wait) his musicology and rhythm is simply incredible. It is hard to fault the guy, who is so smooth and so sharp whenever he needs to be.

I can not sing his praises enough.
Sadly I can not find any video's of his on the MovementLifestyle.com website & youtube channel, however he does has his own channel "lbeniga1" and his own website.

This video is to a local artist in Washington DC called Wale, check his music out too!
Anyway, this video has had over 800,000 hits on YouTube!!!

Without further adieu...Mr Lyle Beniga:

Got the picture!...and Movement Lifestyle Month

Hey all!

Finally have my mac back, its now up and running again (Yaayy!)

So as promised here is the pic of the I AMsterdam Sign:

And with us in it (i'm just in front of the T):

Secondly, I would like to introduce you to someone who is absolutely fantastic & what they do:

Mr Shaun Evarusto! - YouTube Him, as a member of Movement Lifestyle (http://www.themovementlifestyle.com/) he is the first to be introduced to you, on my blog.
This is one of his slower routines, I do however love how he manages to combine the fluidity of the moves as well as snapping and hitting every beat he wants to with consummate ease - the man is talented. He's performed in plenty of shows, as well as a back up dancer & choreographer for Taeyang on the songs "Wedding Dress" and "Where you at"

Be sure to check out the movement lifestyle page, as well as Shaun's own one, where you can find a whole host of fantastic performances.
